What is Mobile VoIP?

Traditionally speaking, VoIP has always been linked with either a PC or a Laptop that has a working internet connection attached to it. Since it is dependent entirely on the internet access to function, VoIP services could only take place over a PC and Laptop. This made communication over long distances very easy, quick and cheaper as the PC’s and Laptops could connect via the internet and use it as the source. This made communication possible at the lowest rate with the best quality.

But when we talk about our mobile devices, VoIP communication couldn’t be made possible through them, Until Now. Within the past few years VoIP usage was limited to only those people who have a PC or a Laptop but now having a mobile device and having access to internet on that mobile device is all that is needed to run VoIP calls and other VoIP related applications. By using GPRS, 3G or Wi-Fi on these mobile devices, the users can easily use VoIP communication modes through their mobile devices.

·         Lower costs: Through Mobile VoIP, users pay a pocket friendly price which is much cheaper than what telecommunication network providers charge. Hence long distance calls can be covered at the lowest of lowest price.

·         Quality: Since the base of this mode of communication is the internet and since VoIP functions through the internet, the quality of the calls which occur here are rich in quality and clarity, providing high end call quality.

·         Connectivity:  Being one of the most widely used medium of communication worldwide. The internet is one of the most reliable and oldest medium of communication present. Hence connectivity is never a problem with VoIP on a mobile device.

·         Mobility: With VoIP on a mobile device the user has the advantage of mobility, to make VoIP calls and communicate while on the move. This is a huge leap ahead as this was not possible before with PC’s and Laptop’s.
